Flying High: Fireside Chat with General Jacqueline Van Ovost
We hosted nation’s highest-ranking woman in uniform, General Jacqueline Van Ovost, and global finance leader Suni Harford for a live fireside chat about service, overcoming obstacles, and flying high. A staunch advocate for women as well as equality both in and out of the Armed Forces, General Van Ovost shared her inspiring story from how she was once barred from fighter jets to becoming the military’s only woman in a Four Star leadership position. Craig Newmark Invests to End Food Insecurity
In early February 2021, Craig Newmark Philanthropies announced a generous $15 million donation to address food insecurity across America. Newmark made the commitment during the first “Leaders Eat Last” virtual panel event, part of a series developed by the Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF) to take a deeper look into the systems and solutions surrounding food insecurity and specifically its effect on veterans. The announcement comes after the organization gave $10 million to the fight against food insecurity in October. More Info.

The Bob Woodruff Foundation Announces Latest Funding for Regional Veteran Communities Across the Country
To combat the devastating impact of COVID-19 for veterans and their families, today the Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF) announced a $536,000 investment in stimulus funding to 62 local partners. “Food is such a basic human need. But as our local partners have shown us, it’s about much more than the food. When we help fund resources like a grocery store gift card or a box of farm fresh produce, it’s a way of affirming: ‘We’ve got your six. Your community is looking out for you, and we’re going to get through this together,’” said Anne Marie Dougherty, CEO of the Bob Woodruff Foundation. More Info.

This white paper analyzes and summarizes the “checkpoints” that were distributed to the Bob Woodruff Foundation’s network of over 100 local partner collaboratives, representing more than 3,000 organizations across the nation. These individual assessments provide local partners a clear picture of how they and their peers are developing, what they can learn from other communities, and which areas for improvement will have the biggest return on investment—that is, the greatest impact on the veterans and military families they serve.
