The Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF) is pleased to continue its partnership with Veterans on Wall Street (VOWS), a consortium of 85 financial services led by Citi, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and HSBC, to bolster support of transitioning service members, veterans and their families.

Leveraging BWF’s network of program partners, veteran service organizations, and military and government leaders, VOWS will host its Sixth Annual Veteran Employment Symposium, on November 1st, at Goldman Sachs. The annual conference aims to raise awareness of the value of veterans in the civilian workforce and is an opportunity to share best practices regarding veteran employment matters, like retention, among institutions across all industries in North America.

“It’s our duty to make sure our service members have the resources they need when they return home,” said Anne Marie Dougherty, executive director of the Bob Woodruff Foundation. “We are extremely grateful that VOWS has entrusted the Bob Woodruff Foundation as its charitable partner, to invest in the next chapter of our veterans’ lives.”

Following the Symposium, many VOWS members will attend the 10th Annual Stand Up for Heroes, featuring performances by Louis C.K., Jim Gaffigan, Jerry Seinfeld, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Stewart and surprise guests, at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Presented by BWF and the New York Comedy Festival, the event helps impacted veterans, service members and their families through programs supported by the Bob Woodruff Foundation. Since 2013, VOWS partners and corporate supporters have raised more than $3 million in connection with the star-studded event.

“Six years ago, we created VOWS to help take concrete steps to support veterans and their families navigating the often difficult transition back to civilian life,” said Suni Harford, Citi’s Regional Head of Markets for North America. “Today, through a combination of educational initiatives, mentoring, outreach to the military, and vital collaborations with organizations like the Bob Woodruff Foundation, VOWS is enabling the recruitment, hiring and retention of veterans throughout the global financial services industry.”

“Veterans risk life and limb in service to our nation, and it is our duty to support and assist veterans in their transition to civilian employment,” said John Eydenberg, senior VOWS corporate sponsor and Vice Chairman, Corporate & Investment Banking, Deutsche Bank Americas. “The annual VOWS Symposium, now in its sixth year, celebrates the unique skill set of active duty service members and veterans and connects them to employers on Wall Street and across all industries through the VOWS consortium. We are also a proud partner with the Bob Woodruff Foundation in its tireless support of service members, veterans and their communities.”

“As a cofounder of Veterans on Wall Street, we are proud to host the sixth annual VOWS Symposium that brings together key leaders across the public and private sectors to discuss the important issues that veterans face during their transition to the civilian workforce,” said Jeff Schroeder, Chief Administrative Officer of Goldman Sachs.

“I can’t help but be moved by the energy and passion around the annual VOWS Employer Symposium and Stand Up for Heroes Benefit, and I’ve heard from fellow veterans at HSBC that they feel similarly,” said Michael Smith, Chief Privacy Officer for HSBC USA who served nine years as an officer in the U.S. Navy. “I’m proud to work for a bank and in an industry that is doing so much to honor the men and women who have served in the military, and to recruit them into financial services.”
