Removing Legal Barriers Program

Medical-Legal Partnerships (MLP) address complex social factors affecting veterans’ housing, health, and well-being that cannot be properly remedied without the assistance of an attorney. The Connecticut Veterans Legal Center (CVLC) Removing Legal Barriers program addresses veteran homelessness by integrating CVLC’s free civil legal representation into (1) VA healthcare systems and (2) VA Homeless Prevention and Intervention Programs to increase veterans’ access to affordable and sustainable housing solutions. Through their MLP with the VA Errera Community Care Center, CVLC assists clients with healthcare, employment, and general legal needs. This BWF grant will increase access to affordable and sustainable housing solutions for at least 350 veterans through a medical-legal partnership between CVLC, VA healthcare systems, and VA Homeless Prevention and Intervention programs.
