Service Platoon Program

The Mission Continues (TMC) empowers veterans, addressing their need to serve and demonstrating their talent and skills to the local community while also improving local communities and increasing military-civilian understanding and appreciation. The Service Platoon Program unites veteran and non-veteran volunteers to overcome obstacles in their communities. Groups of veterans work alongside their neighbors in over 40 cities “continuing mission” in service of American communities. Veterans feel more connected with others through their participation in service platoons. As they build trust and rapport, they can share their stories and hear the stories of their peers. With this NFL-BWF Healthy Lifestyles and Creating Community grant, TMC’s Service Platoon Program will increase social connectedness and improve the mental health of 8,000 veterans participating in the Service Platoon Program’s city-wide national days of service, projects, and social events.
