Next week kicks off Veteran and Military families month, which entails a plethora of events, workshops, "freebies," and opportunities to celebrate and empower our community! Spearheaded by NYS DVS, "Movie Across the State" is a special initiative to bring an impactful movie screening meant to spur thoughtful conversations on the Veteran experience.
The selected movie this year is Dear Sirs a film which explores the story of an American World War II Prisoner of War 75 years later. Here's how they describe it: Filmmaker Mark Pedri had never heard his grandfather Silvio's story. Ten years after his grandfather's death, Mark found an archive of photos and letters that changed the rest of his life. The discovery inspired Mark to journey across Europe on a bike to examine his grandfather's experience as a Prisoner of War in WWII in an effort to understand the man who helped raise him.
