Food Insecurity

Veterans and military families face food insecurity at twice the rate of the general public. By addressing the root causes of food insecurity, we’re working to change that.

In partnership with Craig Newmark Philanthropies, we work to address food insecurity in our veteran and military community. We  invest in programs that meet our veterans’ and service members’ food needs and in services that address the root causes of food insecurity. These include housing, employment, mental health and wellbeing.

Food insecurity, or lack of consistent access to enough food for a healthy and active lifestyle, is a challenge for veterans. Approximately 11% of working age veterans live in households that struggle with food insecurity.

Military families also struggle with food insecurity. This impacts their health and well-being, and our nation’s military readiness, retention, and recruitment.

Together we can work to ensure that veterans, service members and military families have enough to eat.
