Job Opening: Development Associate
Purpose
The Development Associate will report to the Development Manager and is responsible for supporting the Development Manager in the Veterans on Wall Street fundraising program and will also support other fundraising activities as required. The Development Associate will help cultivate, retain, and grow our partner relationships through administrative aspects and direct partner engagement. This role will assist the Development Manager in organizing and executing fundraising efforts and event planning along with maintaining a portfolio of partners. These skills will be essential so that the Development Associate can aid in the developing of fundraising plans, participate in solving logistical issues and collaborate with the team effectively. This is a growth-focused role for a professional interested in expanding their skills in non-profit fundraising.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain current and cultivate new partnerships at the $10k level and above for the VOWS portfolio through partnership calls and fundraising outreach with a goal of contributing $300K to revenue goal of $1.25M for VOWS
- Lead administrative activities required to prospect, cultivate, and steward current and prospective partnerships within the VOWS portfolio
- Contribute to annual revenue planning and pipeline management by sharing projections and updates related to the Veterans on Wall Street portfolio and maintaining detailed records via Salesforce as directed by Development Manager
- Assist in scheduling of prospecting and partnership meetings for Development Manager
- Manage prospect research and briefing information for prospective and current partners
- Assist in Veterans on Wall Street event planning, by aiding the Development Manager and tracking event progress including, agenda development, invitation outreach, and host, sponsor, and partner communications
- Draft, review and edit written materials for a range of audiences including staff, external corporations and partners, and the general public
- Work with communications team to provide content for Veterans on Wall Street social media and work with consultant on website updates as needed
- Manage veteran talent account and assist the Development Manager in finding mentors and other resources for veterans and transitioning service members seeking employment
- Cultivate and refine a strong working knowledge of our mission, our programs, and our impact to be a compelling storyteller and ambassador of our work
- Represent the Bob Woodruff Foundation at events as determined by the Development Manager and Senior Director of Development
- Support development team leadership as needed on administrative development tasks
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1-2 years professional experience in development, fundraising, or sales
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Salesforce
- Exceptional skills in interpersonal engagement, professional discretion, confidentiality, and accountability
- Strong interest in and understanding of the BWF mission; related work experience with military service members or veterans preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communications
- Able to work effectively as part of a small, proactive team

Salary Range
Starting salary range between $48,000 – $58,000
