Anne Marie Dougherty serves as executive director of the Bob Woodruff Foundation, after assuming the position in 2011. She is a passionate supporter of our nation’s veterans and military families, and a dedicated leader. Working among leading government, corporate and stakeholder groups, her expertise, vision and drive have helped guide the philanthropy and veteran non-profit sectors to shape and invest in solutions and strategies to provide resources and support to post 9/11 injured veterans and their families.
Under Dougherty’s leadership the Foundation has grown from a small regional organization to a nationally recognized brand and market leader.
She has increased revenue year over year, raising more than $50 million during her tenure. With a commitment to a lean, efficient and mission driven organization, Bob Woodruff Foundation operates with over 87% spending to programs with an increase of over 120% of program spending dollars over the past 5 years.
Dougherty is focused on making the Bob Woodruff Foundation the hub of a strong and growing collaborative network of organizations and partners, with innovative programs and outsized impact, that stands strongly on the reputation and credibility of the Woodruff family name. Through partnership development with corporations, nonprofits, senior government and military officials, Dougherty has positioned the Bob Woodruff Foundation as a national leader in the veteran space. She is working to leverage the millennial generation through the creation of the Next Generation Action Council to supplement the Foundation’s world class Board of Directors and Leadership Council.
Dougherty graduated from Drexel University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communications. A native of Philadelphia, she now resides in New York City with her husband, a Marine combat veteran, and their child.
Dougherty was named The Nonprofit Times and American Marketing Association “Nonprofit Marketer of the Year” in 2012, and has received multiple awards on behalf the Foundation’s industry leading impact. As a keynote speaker and panelist at industry events, she speaks about the issues and solutions of the post 9/11 generation of veterans, brand stewardship through strategic philanthropy, and women in leadership.
