At our recent Bob Woodruff Foundation Summit in Fort Lauderdale hosted with support from Craig Newmark Philanthropies, CSX, and Pendleton Whisky, we heard from Dr. Michael Sorna, Medical Director, Leon Haley MD Brain Wellness Program at University of Florida Health Jacksonville. Dr. Sorna spoke on The Lingering Effects and Treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury.

Sorna believes that healing “proceeds at the speed of trust.” Sorna and his team of specialists build trust with their patients by “putting the patient at the center of care.” He adds that “once they can establish that trust, they can find out what’s important. [We can] put the right specialists on those problems, and use this collaborative care model that allows rapid improvement of symptoms and for brain injury.”

Hear from Sorna who discusses his takeaways from the Summit, effective strategies to treat veterans with TBI, and what everyone should know about TBI.

For those who were unable to attend the Summit, read the highlights.
