Our latest publication, “The Case for Collaboration: Strengthening Ties Between Civil Legal-Aid and Veteran-Serving Organizations” responds to an urgent need. In low-income households with veterans or service members, 76 percent reported experiencing at least one civil legal problem in 2021, and 44 percent had five or more civil legal problems. These same household reported receiving inadequate or no professional legal help for 84 percent of their civil legal problems.

This issue urges veterans’ service providers to maintain a “no wrong door” policy to build relationships with civil legal-aid providers to comprehensively address veterans’ needs and fill this service gap.
