Removing Legal Barriers Program

This grant will underwrite the costs of a full-time attorney resulting in access to affordable and sustainable housing solutions for at least 75 veterans through a medical-legal partnership between CVLC, VA healthcare systems, and VA Homeless Prevention and Intervention programs.

Medical-Legal Partnerships address complex social factors affecting veterans’ housing, health, and well-being, and that cannot be properly remedied without the assistance of an attorney. The Connecticut Veterans Legal Center (CVLC) Removing Legal Barriers program addresses veteran homelessness by integrating CVLC’s free civil legal representation into VA healthcare systems and VA Homeless Prevention and Intervention Programs to increase veterans’ access to affordable and sustainable housing solutions. Through their medical legal partnership with the VA Errera Community Care Center, CVLC assists clients with healthcare, employment, and general legal needs.
