Veterans CoScaling Impact for Underserved Veterans with Specialized Legal Services

This BWF funding will provide legal assistance to at least 150 veterans to increase their access to the benefits and services they need to improve their wellbeing and long-term stability.

Swords to Plowshares’ Legal Program provides expert legal services focused on helping vulnerable veterans experiencing mental or physical disability, chronic health conditions, and/or homelessness access high-quality VA healthcare, receive appropriate disability compensation for their service-related injuries, and become eligible for additional benefits such as federal housing vouchers. Through their Pro Bono Program, Swords to Plowshares trains and oversees a network of more than 300 volunteer attorneys to increase their capacity to provide legal services to veterans across the Bay Area through monthly Discharge Upgrade Legal Clinics, direct representation, and other special projects.
